To get there from Kampala, you need to drive for about 8-9 hours. It is a strenuous journey, but worth it when you make it to one of the parks. Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking is one of the outstanding reasons for the huge numbers of tourists who visit Uganda every year. It usually involves moving in a group following the permanently established trails heading to the Jungle with the need to meet the Gorillas in the Jungles.

Before the trekking, a briefing is conducted at the Park headquarters or starting point. The main reason is to highlight trekkers on how to behave while in the Jungle with the Gorillas.

For conservation purposes and elimination of congestion in the Jungle, only eight trekkers in a group are allowed to visit one Gorilla family per day. Gorilla trackers are the first to go early in the morning to locate the presence of these apes. After, it is their responsibility to notify the Park ranger guide with the group of trekkers.

Another exciting activity for you is the habituation experience. It is almost similar to Gorilla trekking but what differs is the time spent with these apes in the Jungles. For the habituation experience, tourists are allowed to stay with the Gorillas for four hours or full day in the Jungle.

With this excursion, you get an opportunity to follow movements of these apes while taking photos and videos in different localities. Make sure to come with strong hiking shoes, long sleeved shirts, thick trousers, and shocking, gloves and head shocks. Camera of good quality is also important, water proof bags and reserve storage cards.

This appealing activity takes place in Mgahinga National Park of Uganda and Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda. Like Gorilla Trekking, this adventure also starts with a briefing in the morning to highlight trackers on what to and what not to do in the Jungle.

The briefing starts at around 7:30am. After, the journey starts in a group. There is no limit on the number of people to track the Golden monkeys. It depends on the number of travelers available for the adventure.

These primates are small in size, so it’s difficult to locate where they spent the last night. Trackers trace for them by use of fresh leftovers of bamboo shoot. There are mostly found in the mountainous bamboo forested areas. Tracking usually depends on the weather conditions and the movements by these primates in the Jungle.
